Jude Law Says “there’s a new iteration of the script for Sherlock Holmes 3”.
During a recent interview with The Playlist, Jude Law was talking about his new FBI thriller “The Order” from Amazon MGM, and during discussions, the actor talked about his upcoming films, and also gave an update for “Sherlock Holmes 3”. Law says there is a revised script but he hasn’t read it yet.
“There’s a great will to make it”, he continued. “And a great will amongst us all to get it right to do it, to find the time, to find the right team. The one great thing I took from both of those films is my friendship with Robert [Downey Jr.] and his wife Susan, they mean an awful lot to me. The hope is we’re still going to do it.”
Earlier there were rumors of the upcoming sequel being planned as a “time-travel storyline”. There were also reports of RDJ and his wife Susan, saying they want to plan a “mystery-verse” from the third part, and spin-off stories of characters from the film. But thankfully that plan is put on hold it seems, as Law says there is a new iteration of the script which will take the story into a new direction.
“Gosh, yeah, that’s interesting”. Law said about the once-mooted plan of time travel being involved in a third film. “The plan has been evolving over how many years it’s been now, probably nearly ten years.”
“I think there’s a new iteration of the script I haven’t yet read. And then there’s a case of ‘how expensive is it? and can we get it made?”.
There’s also no words on if Guy Ritchie, who directed the first two ‘Sherlock Holmes’ films will return as the director for the third. Ritchie is a very busy filmmaker these days, and it would take a great script and some convincing from Law and RDJ to get him back in the directors chair.
Law stars in “The Order”, a FBI/white-supremist thriller from director Justin Kurzel. The cast also include; Nicholas Hoult and Tye Sheridan. ‘The Order’ had it’s world premiere at the 81st Venice Film Festival, and received good reactions from audiences. Vertical releases the film on December 6, in United States.
