‘Blood On Snow’ By Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Earlier this year, Cary Joji Fukunaga announced that he was going to direct crime-thriller “77 Blackout” - starring Tom Hardy and Mahershala Ali. But It seems like Cary Fukunaga has put that project on the back burner and is now set to direct another film starring Tom Hardy. “Blood On Snow” is a crime-thriller adapted from Jo Nesbo’s novel of the same name. Nesbo also penned the script (with revisions from Ben Power.)

Tom Hardy (Venom) is teaming up with Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train) for the film. additional cast is yet to be announced.

Synopsis: The buzzy story unfolds in 1970’s Oslo, where two rival gang leaders— Hoffman and the Fisherman (Hardy)— vie for control. Hoffman’s trusted hitman, Olav (Johnson), is cold, efficient killer, perfect for the job. But beneath his ruthless exterior lies an unexpected intelligence and an unwavering moral code shaped by a complicated childhood…When Hoffman orders his own wife to be murdered, Olav’s principles clash with his loyalties. Instead of pulling the trigger, he hatches a scheme that makes him Hoffman’s next target and with nowhere safe to turn, Olav forms an uneasy alliance that places him at the heart of Oslo’s deadly gang war. once a violent enforcer, Olav’s choices makes him an unlikely hero in a world where no good deeds goes unpunished.

Deadline described this project as “the biggest pre-sales title at TIFF.” WME Independent is co-repping domestic rights with Range Media. WME Independent will also handle international sales.

Hardy will have a supporting role in the movie, and also produce the project with Dean Baker under their Hardy Son & Baker banner alongside Nesbo and Fukunaga. Department M will produce and also fully finance the feature.

It makes a rare feature screenwriting outing for the acclaimed Norwegian novelist whose books have been adapted into multiple hit movies and TV series. like; “Headhunters” and “The Snowman”. He has scripted three TV shows, all Norwegian produced, including the upcoming Leonard Cohen biopic “So long, Marianne.”

Filming will commence soon in the following months.

This will be Fukunaga’s first project in 3 years, following the allegations of improper sexual behavior, which he has vehemently denied, and no legal proceedings took place. His last film was the critically acclaimed “No Time To Die” in 2021, the final Bond film for Daniel Craig, which made $775 million globally.

He followed that up with directing multiple episodes of big-budget hit Apple TV+ series “Masters Of Air”. Cary Fukunaga is a talented filmmaker who broke out with his high wire and stylish directing in the first season of “True Detective.” He also helmed the much-lauded “Beasts Of No Nation”, and popular Netflix series “Maniac” starring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone.
