‘Fuze’ By David Mackenzie.
“Hell or High Water” director and Oscar nominee David Mackenzie has set his next project — a crime thriller heist film “Fuze” starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Theo James. Ben Hopkins wrote the script. Sigma Films are producing while Sky Cinema will distribute it.
Joining Theo James (The Gentlemen) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train) will be; Sam Worthington (Avatar) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Loki) who were announced in July. more additions were also revealed including, Elham Ehsas and Honor Swinton-Byrne.
Synopsis: After an undetonated bomb from World War II is uncovered at a London construction site, the chaos of the subsequent evacuation and bomb disarming provides excellent cover to conduct a nearby bomb heist.
‘Fuze’ was written by Ben Hopkins, and the project was taken to the 2024 European Film Market with plans for David Mackenzie to direct and Taylor-Johnson to star. Sky Cinema announced that it would distribute the film theatrically in the United Kingdom and Ireland. UTA Independent Film Group and WME Independent will co-rep the U.S. rights with film producer Anton.
Principal photography began on 9 July 2024, in London.
Speaking about the film, Mackenzie said “Fuze is the first feature I’ve shot in London and I’m thrilled to be here, The cast and crew are the cream of British talent and I’m excited to roll the camera”
Mackenzie’s last film was “Outlaw King” starring Chris Pine, Florence Pugh and Aaron Taylor-Johnson — which was the Scottish director’s life-long passion project. The medieval film landed on Netflix, but was met with mid-level reviews, nowhere near his past films like the amazing and underrated “Hell or High Water” and “Starred Up”.
Giles Nuttgens reunites with Mackenzie as the director of photography, after working on “Hell or High Water”. his past credits include both “Enola Holmes” movies.
Theo James has become quiet a popular name now, after his Emmy-nominated role in HBO’s “White Lotus”. he also appeared in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series “The Gentlemen” — which was recently renewed for a second season. His next feature role is in “The Monkey”, directed by “LongLegs” director Oz Perkins and based on Stephen Kings novel. The project was sold to Neon after a bidding war at the Cannes market.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has starred as a co-star in big box-office movies including, “Bullet Train”, “Tenet”, “Fall Guy” and “King’s Man”. he got his big role as Quicksilver in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. He has been very buys these days, his next feature in a leading role comes in “Kraven The Hunter”, direct by J.C Chandor, as part of the Spider-Man villain films from Sony. he will also be seen next in Robert Egger’s “Nosferatu” starring with Bill Skarsgard, Lilly-Rose Depp and Nicholas Hoult. He’s also set to start production on the new “28 Years Later” movie from Danny Boyle and Alex Garland — a sequel to “28 Days Later”. Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes will join Taylor-Johnson, while original star Cillian Murphy is also rumored to return.
“Fuze” is in currently in post-production and will mostly released in late 2025, barring any re-shoots or delays.
