‘The Salamander Lives Twice’ By Ant Timpson.
Adrien Brody and Vera Farmiga are starring in the independent mystery thriller “The Salamander Lives Twice” directed by Ant Timpson. The film went into production in early 2021. Toby Harvard penned the script from a story by Timpson and Harvard. XYZ Films, Blinder Films and Firefly Films are producing the pic. XYZ is handling worldwide sales.
No additional cast was announced other than Oscar winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist, The Brutalist) and Oscar-nominee Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring).
Premise: The story follows an injured man (Brody) with an impenetrable briefcase and no memory who is found on the shoreline of a remote island by Iris and her daughter Goggy (Farmiga), the last remaining members of a once prosperous family dynasty.
The film was introduced by XYZ to buyers, with CAA Media Finance co-repping domestic rights, at the online American Film Market in November 2020.
Brody won a best actor Oscar for his role in Roman Polanski’s “The Pianist”. He is coming off Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” — one of the most acclaimed films in this years festival circuit. a post-war drama, in which Brody gives one of his most impressive performance. Many trades are already reporting on the good chances at next years Oscars for “The Brutalist”, and same for a Best Actor nomination for Adrien Brody.
Vera Farmiga was nominated for an Oscar an a Golden Globe for her performance in “Up in The Air”. She also received Emmy nominations for her work on “Bates Motel”. She became a recognizable face in the horror genre after her turns in “The Conjuring” franchise — which made her one of my favorite actresses. Farmiga recently wrapped the fourth and last of the main ‘Conjuring’ films — “The Conjuring: Last Rites”. Franchise creator and producer James Wan recently posted a photo online after the production wrapped.
Timpson most recently directed the comedy thriller “Come to Daddy” starring Elijah Wood. Timpson also recently premiered “Bookworm” — a family comedy adventure also starring Woods. The film received critical acclaim.
The film was in post-production in Early 2022, and awaiting a Distributor.
