‘Untitled Martin McDonagh Film’

Before “The Banshees of Inisherin’s” release, Oscar-winning filmmaker Martin McDonagh had announced his new untitled film in 2021, which he had written and was going to direct. He had Christopher Walken (Dune II), Sam Rockwell and Oscar Issac (Ex Machina) ready to star. CAA Media Finance were repping the rights or sale at the 2021 American Film Market.

Plot details are under wrap as of yet, but the filmmaker-playwright spoke about the film to Hong Kong outlet RTHK:

Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell. I really want to do something with them. I think the next thing might be set in an Island, not in Ireland, like in ‘Banshees’, but again to have the Island be a character. So, that’s a scoop for you, I think that’s going to be the next thing.

McDonagh is coming off the most acclaimed film of his career, 2022’s “The Banshees if Inisherin”, which won a BAFTA and Golden Globe Award for Best Picture and also nine Oscar nominations.

Deadline reported in 2021, that the film already got four offers for the McDonagh script which he is set to direct. “This is a killer script from a writer-director well known for his killer scripts”.

CAA Media Finance’s Roeg Sutherland and Range Media Partners are repping the rights for the film. The package will reunite the “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri” writer-director with his Supporting Actor Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell. And Walken, who starred with Rockwell in McDonagh’s “Seven Psychopaths”.

McDonagh’s other works include; “In Bruges” and short film “Six Shooter” — which won him the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film.

More updates should soon come about the yet-untitled film.
