‘Wolfs’ Sequel NOT Moving Forward At Apple.
In a surprising turn of events, Apple studios has scrapped the idea of a sequel for their George Clooney and Brad Pitt starrer “Wolfs”. Way before the film was released, director Jon Watts and Clooney had stated that a sequel had been greenlit.
In a recent interview with Collider for his new Star Wars series - “Skeleton Crew”, Watts stated; “I don’t know what I’m directing next, I don’t think there’s going to be a Wolfs sequel”.
Wolfs was a major draw for the studio because it promised reuniting the “Ocean’s” leads Clooney and Pitt in a movie. Apple had it’s theatrical rollout shortened to just one week in theatres. A week later, it was made available on Apple TV+ and ended up becoming the most-viewed film in the history of Apple TV+.
The film had a flashy premiere at Venice Film Festival, and earned mixed to decent reviews. It was a low-key chill action-thriller, which I didn’t mind, It only needed some work on it’s script and dialogues.
Apple studios is making some of the best shows and films with the top filmmakers in the world, but their terrible marketing for their excellent content has resulted in low viewership. A recent report stated that the studio had spent $20 billion on content for it’s streaming service. And I think a change in their strategy is inevitable, and I guess the sequel for their star studded pic will have to suffer in the process.
