Ana De Armas and Oscar Isaac to star in David O. Russell's "Banana" series at Apple TV

David O. Russell is ramping up his projects at full speed. Reports came out today (via Deadline) that there was competitive bidding for Russell’s Apple TV+ series “Bananas.” Not just that, Oscar Isaac and Ana de Armas are set to star. Russell will direct and co-write the screenplay with Carolina Paiz — who will also serve as showrunner. No plot details have been revealed.

Though there's speculation which indicate that the working title refers to so-called banana republics, a term used to describe politically and economically unstable countries in areas such as Central America.

Russell, a five-time Oscar nominee, is set to direct the Amazon MGM Studios film Madden starring Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale.
