‘Captain America: Brave New World’ fails test-screening again, More reshoots underway.

Daniel Richtman (via CBM) is reporting that a third round of test screenings recently took place for Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World”, and once again the reaction wasn’t what Marvel had hoped for. More changes are being done on the film.

This would be the third round of reshoots on “Brave New World”. Earlier in the year, Marvel got to see a rough cut of the film, but felt the action scenes “were not big or satisfying enough”. A poorly rated test-screening didn’t help. There were reports that three major action sequences were being reshot from scratch.

Matthew Orton was hired by Marvel to pen the additional scenes and material. Orton’s work is being shot in the latest bout of additional photography which includes stars Anthony Mackie, Giancarlo Esposito and Danny Ramirez. The film is delayed to a February 14 2025 release date.

‘Brave New World’ had originally wrapped filming in June 2023, and was set for a July 2024 release date before being delayed. The budget is said to be nearing $400 million, which could spell trouble for Marvel who are banking on Mackie’s Captain America to be one of the key characters in the post-Endgame MCU.
