James Gunn responds to rumors of “The Batman II” getting cancelled.
Looks like Matt Reeves is still working on the script for “The Batman” sequel. Various actors from the first film (like Jeffrey Wright) that have said that they cant wait to start filming the second part, but that they haven’t heard from Reeves or even seen a script for the film yet. There were some impatient online fanboys saying that James Gunn has stalled on Matt Reeves’ Batman universe. James Gunn in his true fashion decided to reply to a troll and put the rumors to rest.
“Like why would you even believe a rando on social networking? Of course not. If it was cancelled it would be cancelled. Who has times for charades I’ve been one of Matt’s biggest cheerleaders for the years - since Cloverfield and the Apes’ movies. We are eagerly waiting for the script.”
It looks like Reeves is taking his time on the perfect story to tell, as he should. This isn’t some Marvel movie factory product. “The Batman” was a big hit, and he has a lot on his shoulders to deliver a perfect sequel.
The sequel was supposed to start shooting in early 2025, so we would have to wait and see if that’s the plan still. Given that Robert Pattinson has taken one of the lead roles in Christopher Nolan’s next movie, which is also supposedly starting production in the first half of 2025.
