Aaron Sorkin set to direct “Shadow Flyers” at Warner Bros.

It seems Aaron Sorkin has set up his fourth directorial effort at Warner Bros. titled “Shadow Flyers”. It was reported in a Production Weekly listing yesterday. I’m assuming Sorkin will write and direct, but no actors or plot details were revealed.

Earlier in the year Puck’s Matt Belloni reported that Sorkin was writing a movie about the Capitol protests of January 6, 2021 in Washington DC. Sorkin later described it as a “quasi-sequel” to “The Social Network”. There’s no word yet if ‘Shadow Flyers’ is that project or a different one.

‘Shadow Flyers’ is set up to be Sorkin’s fourth film as a director, his last one was Amazon Primes “Being The Ricardos”, released in 2021. His previous films include 2020's “The Trial of the Chicago 7” at Netflix and 2017's excellent “Molly’s Game”.

Sorkin is primarily known as a screenwriter first and director second. Known for his “walk and talk” technique of storytelling and witty dialogues, Sorkin rose to prominence as the writer and showrunner of “The West Wing” (1999-2006). and HBO’s “The Newsroom” (2012-2014).

He won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for writing David Fincher’s “The Social Network”. His other film writing credits include; “A Few Good Men”, “Moneyball” and “Steve Jobs”. Sorkin is one of the best writers working right now, certainly up there with Charlie Kaufman.
