Cary Joji Fukunaga starts shooting ‘Blood On Snow’.

Earlier in the month, I wrote about Fukunaga’s new film based on Jo Nesbo’s crime-thriller novel “Blood On Snow”, starring Tom Hardy and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the leads. Yesterday Tom Hardy posted a pic on Instagram revealing that production has officially started on the film.

This project was reported by Deadline as “one of the biggest pre-sales title at TIFF”. Cary Fukunaga is set to direct and Nesbo is writing the script, adapting from his own best-selling novel.

The story, set in 70’s Oslo, has two rival gang leaders fighting for territorial control. This most likely will be a 2025 release.

Fukunaga and Hardy were attached to another project titled “77 Blackout”. Another crime-thriller starring Hardy and Mahershala Ali. That one seems to be on the back burner as of now. Given that Mahershala Ali is having his own problems with Marvel’s “Blade” reboot.

It’s good to see Cary back in the director’s seat. the director was hit with multiple sexual misconduct behavior allegations, which he has strongly denied and no legal proceedings have took place. His last directorial effort was Daniel Craig’s final Bond movie “No Time To Die” (2021). He broke out into the scene with his high-wire directing in the excellent first season of “True Detective”. He also directed multiple episodes of the recent big-budgeted hit series “Masters of Air” for Apple TV+.
