‘I Want Your Sex’ By Gregg Araki.

The new queer cinema movement filmmaker has set his next feature at Black Bear Pictures. An erotic thriller titled “I Want Your Sex”. The film stars Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman. Araki co-wrote the script with Karley Sciortino which blithely explores desire, domination and fantasy. Seth Caplan, Teddy Schwarzman and Araki will produce the pic. Black Bear is fully financing the film.

Olivia Wilde (Don’t Worry Darling) and Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza) were announced to play Erika Tracy and Elliot in the film. In August, singer-songwriter Charlie XCX (Brat) was added to the cast in a supporting role.

Synopsis: When fresh-faced Elliot (Hoffman) lands an exciting job for renowned artist, icon and provocateur Erika Tracy (Wilde), his fantasies come true as Erika taps him to become her sexual muse. But Elliot soon finds himself out of his depth as Erika takes him on a journey more profound than he ever could have imagined, into a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder.

In May, It was reported that a thriller film directed by Araki and co-written by Sciortino was in development. Araki told IndieWire, the feature will be a Gen Z answer to “Secretary.”

Black Bear is fully financing the project and represents international rights. CAA Media Finance is set to handle U.S. rights.

Principal photography began in Los Angeles on October 2, 2024.

Cooper Hoffman, whose father is late icon Seymour Hoffman is getting his own “Boogie Nights” breakout moment. He previously starred in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza” and appeared in “Saturday Night” about the origins of SNL.

This will be Charlie xcx’s second live-action role. She will also be seen in Daniel Goldhaber’s remake of the 1978 cult classic “Faces of Death.” She is also producing the score for David Lowery’s A24 film “Mother Mary” with Jack Antonoff.

Araki stated that “I Want Your Sex” is a “comedy, but it’s still one of my movies,” referencing his signature darkness. The feature will be Araki’s answer to the decline of Gen Z’s sex drive. “It’s about Gen Z, and it has a little bit of that old movie “Secretary,” another ‘old indie movie’ from the 90s. Longtime indie auteur Araki is known for “Mysterious Skin”, which earned him a nomination for Best Director at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. His other credits include “White Bird in a Blizzard”, “Kaboom” and “Smiley Face”. Araki is mostly dabbling in episodic TV these last few years. (“13 Reasons Why”, “Dahmer”) and created his own series “Now Apocalypse”.

Tucker Korte is the cinematographer for the film. he worked as a camera operator on “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Spiderhead”.
