Tom Cruise to star in Doug Liman’s thriller “Deeper”.
Showbiz411’s Roger Freidman has Doug Liman saying that his next film will be “Deeper”, starring Tom Cruise. The film has been in development for over 10 years at Warner Bros. Liman tells Freidman that he and Cruise plan for a “scary” movie. “I have never done one, and neither has Tom” said Liman.
The project was written by Max Landis, that was announced back in 2016, with multiple actors being attached before exiting including; Idris Elba, Bradley Cooper and Gal Gadot. Meanwhile, Korner Mundruczo and Baltasar Kormakur were once attached to direct “Deeper” in 2016 and 2019.
“Deeper” is being described by Liman as a “supernatural thriller” that centers on a disgraced astronaut, to be played by Cruise, who is on a deep-sea dive exploring a newly discovered trench but soon finds himself confronted by a sinister and a dangerous force.
This will be Cruise and Liman’s third film together after; “American Made” and “Edge of Tomorrow”. They are also developing a space-set film with NASA and SpaceX, which will make Cruise the first civilian to space-walk outside the ISS.
