Elizabeth Olsen cast alongside Julia Roberts in Sam Esmail’s thriller “Panic Carefully”.

After his “Leave The World Behind” became a huge hit on Netflix, Sam Esmail has set a new thriller project starring Julia Roberts, which landed at Warner Bros. titled “Panic Carefully”. Elizabeth Olsen has closed a deal to join Roberts in the film. Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot) will direct from his own script.

The film, which is being touted as a “paranoid thriller” in the vein of “Silence of the Lambs”, could potentially shoot in 2025. Logline has been kept under wraps.

When this package was announced in February, there was a bidding war between Netflix, Warner Bros. and Paramount, with Warner Bros. prevailing in the end in part due to it’s commitment to a theatrical run. The film will reunite Esmail with Roberts following their hugely popular apocalyptic thriller based on the 2020 novel by Rumaan Alam, which premiered on Netflix in November 2023 and stands as the streamer’s fifth most popular English-language film of all time, with 143.4 million views.
