Dwayne Johnson watched ‘Oppenheimer’ in IMAX and thought ‘this is how people should experience “Red One”.’

In a recent IMAX interview, Dwayne Johnson said a screening of “Oppenheimer” in IMAX [“that he watched in Christopher Nolan’s seat”] inspired him to make sure his new Christmas action movie ‘Red One’ would be able to play in the premium IMAX screens.

“With ‘Red One’, our intention was to make a movie that you can enjoy on the biggest screens possible” Johnson said in during the Imax interview. “Legitimately the biggest screens possible are IMAX. I was midway through shooting ‘Red One’ and I had the opportunity to go see ‘Oppenheimer’. I watched in the IMAX theatre where Christopher Nolan watches and screens his movies. Him and Emma [Thomas], his wife. I even asked to let me sit where Chris sits. They said, ‘Chris sits here’.”

So, The Rock sat in Nolan’s seat in the same Imax theatre where he screens his movies, watched ‘Oppenheimer’, and was blown away by the experience. Naturally, he thought that if ‘Red One’ utilized the same Imax technology it could be ‘game over’.

Johnson continued; “I watch ‘Oppenheimer’. It was amazing, but I was thinking: ‘Holy shit. “Red One” on this screen and with this technology could be game over’. I remember texting [director Jake Kasdan] a picture of my bare chest and a picture of the screen and we realized how cool [IMAX] would be.”

Unfortunately, It does not appear “Red One” is turning into an Imax-sized event like ‘Oppenheimer’. wh0 would’ve guessed?. The movie which looks like an AI website wrote the script for, and which Amazon Prime said “fits in all four-quadrants” doesn’t exactly has the same experience of watching “Oppenheimer”.

‘Red One’ cost a reported $250 million to make and only earned $26 million in it’s launch at the international box office. The film opens domestically in the U.S tomorrow and is tracking for a soft opening in the $20 million range. The movie is also widely panned by pretty much everyone. The studio anticipating the backlash, conveniently lifted up the embargo on reviews right in the middle of the election night. That still couldn't help the movie.

During the production of the movie, more troubling news about its lead actor, Dwayne Johnson came out. earlier in the year The Wrap reported that the on-set delays caused by Johnson caused the budget to balloon to catastrophic levels. (“7-8 hours on average”) “and sometimes he would not show up at all” — his behavior cost production well over $50 million. the report also claimed that Johnson was also prone to peeing in water bottles during the shoot, to refrain from going to the bathroom, and asking crew to get rid of it.

Recently, during a GQ interview, Johnson called the report “crazy”, “ridiculous” and “bullshit”. But not before admitting to the allegations. “Yeah. That happens… I’ve said a thousand times: “Hey, I’m here. Come and ask me. And I’ll tell the truth.” He says the reporting is being exaggerated.
