Francis Ford Coppola to shoot his next film “Glimpses Of The Moon” in early 2025.
After delivering one of the most divisive films in recent years (“Megalopolis”), Francis Coppola has already lined up his next two projects, both being self-financed.
Coppola had talked about making “Glimpses Of The Moon”, many months before ‘Megalopolis’ premiered at Cannes. he told The Washington Post that after he celebrates Christmas holidays with his family, he’ll be moving to London, which is where the production for ‘Glimpses Of The Moon’ is set to begin.
Coppola describes the film as a “strange 30’s style musical”. No cast has been announced yet. ‘Glimpses’ will be an adaptation of Edit Wharton’s novel of the same name, and “inspired” by Leo McCarey’s “The Awful Truth”. Both deal with married couples amicably splitting up only to find it harder to let go of each other than they intially thought.
The filmmaker had previously described the upcoming movie film as having “strong dance and musical elements”. He added, “I’ve turned it into a very odd confection”. He goes on to state that ‘Glimpses’ was “funded the conventional way, with the help of national subsidies, because I’m all borrowed out”, and that “it won’t be cheap by any means”, but unlike ‘Megalopolis’, It won’t be “epic”.
After ‘Glimpses’ is shot and released, Coppola will planning his very final film, titled “Distant Vision”, which he has described as being “immense” and “more ambitious” than ‘Megalopolis’.
